I am a first generation Greek-Australian. My mother migrated in 1967 from Ahladokabos (the Stergios family) and my dad is from Tripoli. Her two other brothers went to Chicago (Thio Gus and Thio Jim). Despite the distance, we are all still close and share a bond through the family and through our beloved vilage. Although I am a born and bred Aussie, I have a special affinity with Greece and the culture. This is something I am sure to pass onto my kids. Congratulations on the site (I particularly like the History section)and for really proving that we are only a "web site" away from the other side of the world. Regards, Maria

Although, I love ancient Greece, and what it gave the world, I strongly believe that we should go forward, and put as much emphis on the new Greece. We can not afford to say look what we gave you,it should read look what we are doing , lets make Greece what it once was. thank you for your time...........George Orfanakos

My grandfather,Panagiotis Konstantinou Stergios would tell me he remembers when he couldnt even communicate with the next village cause there were no phones in Axladocambos. Today we bring Axladokambos into our home were ever we are in the world. Congratulations for this wonderful web site and also to the comittee. My mother, Vasiliki Kostakis was born in the xorio, as were my grandparents. I went to high school in Spetses and have been to the xorio many times. It's been over twenty years since then and I really miss it. Thanks for the great website and keep it up. Giasas, Vaggelis.

May maternal papou was from Axladokambos. The family name was Drulias. When I visit his village I am overwhelmed to see where he grew up. He was very proud of his heritage and never forgot his xorio after he came to America.

Congratulations on your web page. I think that this was a wonderful thing to do. My father is from Ahladokambos and I was raised there too. I just wish that more young people could visit our horio more often during the summer so we the young people here could meet them. It is a shame to know that there are lots of Ahladokambites and we dont know who they are. Eventhough I live in Greece, I am proud to say that I am from Axladokambos. Keep up the good work and sas perimenoume olous na sas doume apo konta...

Wow!! A page on Ahladokambos. Yiasou to all my fellow Ahladokambites and Chicagoans. Beautiful page on the History. My Dad George and Mom Fotini are both 100% Ahladokambites and as you know we all have great pride for the horio and the work the brotherhood has contributed to the village. Most people from small villages usually say I am from a horio by Tripoli, but us Ahladokambites make it a point to let people know we are from Ahladokambos. I love the page but it would be great if there were some pics added. Well hope to see everyone in the horio next summer - I'll be the girl eating icecream with my nieces Tina, Sophia and Jenny at 5:00 in the morning at Karla. : ) Keep up the good work on the page!!!

What a great Web site! I happened to stumble upon it looking for something else, and am glad I did. Congratulations for putting Axladokambos on the information superhighway -- even if the new Peloponissos highway bypasses the village. My mother is from Axladokambos, and I learned to appreciate the village and its people from her as well as my grandparents and extended family. But this website, particularly the historical narrative, truly deepened my appreciation for the hardships and triumphs of Axladokambites worldwide. Keep up the great work.

My father was born and raised in Axhladokambos and has passed on many of his stories on to me. I urge all of you to learn the stories of your relatives that are from Axhladokambos and keep the tradition alive. Life couldn't be any more simpler than it is in Axhalokambos. I am so grateful to have spent four of my youthful summers there. The people are the best! If you visit Axhladokambos, stop in at my uncle's store at the bottom of the village near the School & Post Office where you catch the bus. His name is Yianni Mandis. Tell him his cousin Neeko Mandis (greek) from Indiana says hello. He will either offer you a beer or a Kazoza! But don't play him in cards or Backgammon (Tavli), he's a pro. I would like to hear other Axhladokambos stories (Family, War, Immigration). Please send me one. I love the website! I feel very proud! Thanks. P.S. We need some pictures of the village.

Aloha and Kalispera, Congrats on creating a Web site. I learned much about the village where my mother is from (the Homatas family). I think there is incredible value to post traditions, stories, and histories about our roots here. My grandparents (Petros and Theodora Homata) from that village have passed on and so has all the knowledge they had. As the trend to emigrate from Axladokambos continues, the shared knowledge and memories will simply fade and die. This site can serve as a repository for this knowledge for now and ever more to come. Anything I can do to help, just let me know. Peter Katsikas (yes, we live in Hawaii. Greeks are an island, costal people. They don't belong in cold, artic places like Chicago! I toured the greek islands last year and Greece is a heckuva lot more like Hawaii than Chicago!) Aloha!

Good morning Mr.President. Today was the first day that I could get on the Web Site. I can see that we have lots of brothers who read our mail, and as you know, I always think about our brotherhood which I love. I came up with the idea to publisize all of our meeting notes from our previous meetings on the Web Site so the out of town brothers know how active we are and what we discuss for the good of the brotherhood.!!!!
